March 2021 Campaign Summary - Korean Unwed Mothers’ Families Association

One In An ARMY is extremely proud to announce the results of our March 2021 campaign, KUMFA With Yoongi, benefiting the Korean Unwed Mothers’ Families Association in honour of Yoongi's birthday!

The theme ARMY chose for Yoongi's birthday was marginalized groups & anti discrimination.

KUMFA was created in 2009 for the human rights of unwed mothers and their children. Korea in the 21st century is made up of various family types. Nevertheless, unwed mothers and families’ rights are still being violated due to awareness and institutionalized issues. KUMFA is an organization created by unwed mothers to improve unwed mother families’ legal and social rights and interests. Through monthly regular meetings to promote friendship and share information between members and various programs (psychological therapy, counselling, experiences, camps (original family, summer, New Year’s Day, Chuseok), etc.), the individual’s self-esteem is raised.

Many unwed mothers are turned away by family, friends, relatives, and co-workers the moment they become unwed mothers. KUMFA became the first organization in Korea to open an emergency living space for unwed mothers called “Heater”. Heater is a space for moms who have no place to go in an emergency after deciding to raise their children.

In 5 days, 1469 ARMY raised $37,997.24! This is enough for KUMFA to open a new emergency shelter!

As always, our friends at KUMFA sent a letter to Yoongi and Big Hit Entertainment to let them know what ARMY were able to accomplish this month - but for the first time in One In An ARMY history the letter was sent in Korean!

We also saw another first this month: the end of our first long-term bonus mission. BT21's Journey to ARMYtopia wrapped up with the March Challenge. ARMY were asked to complete a self-care calendar by doing one-self care activity a day. ARMY were free to pick their own activity or use our list of suggestions.

Journey to ARMYtopia ran from September 2020 to March 2021 and it was the first time we ran a long-term bonus mission which accompanied all birthday flash campaigns and regular campaigns. We hope ARMY enjoyed going on the journey with BT21!

March is a special month for One In An ARMY as it's the month we came together as a collective and began to plan our first campaign (which ran in April 2018). A lot has changed for us since our first meeting, but we never stop being impressed at how ARMY comes together each month to work together for a common goal.
