CURRENT CAMPAIGN
One In An ARMY is proud to announce the May 2019 campaign to support the International Railroad for Queer Refugees! The donation period officially began at 12:00 am KST on May 1st, 2019. Donations will aid IRQR in providing assistance to refugees fleeing their country due to persecution for their sexuality or gender identity. Everything listed in steps 3-5 under our individual giving instructions is optional, but extremely helpful for us to track donation amounts as we have no other way to see how much ARMY has donated (see our FAQ for a full explanation). Our hashtag for the month is #PurpleRailroad and the hashtag for the bonus mission is #PurpleRailroadLetters. The minimum donation amount $5.00 USD.

With A Friend

With A Fanbase
If you can’t find an ARMY friend to donate with, you can try reaching out to a local fanbase to see if they’re willing to run a collection pool for your region/country.
Please be advised that One In An ARMY has no way to monitor donations collected through fanbases; donors do so at their own risk. We recommend you only reach out to a base you trust and ask them to provide you with a screenshot that verifies they donated to the campaign. Please contact us if you made a donation through a fanbase and you have reason to believe the money was not donated to the non-profit.
If you don’t want to take the risk of donating to a third-party, save your money for a future campaign and check out the ways you can get involved without donating by visiting our Bonus Missions page or by completing the May Bonus Mission #PurpleRailroadLetters!

About The International Railroad for Queer Refugees
From IRQR's website:

"International Railroad for Queer Refugees (IRQR)'s mission is to relieve poverty for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual (LGBT) refugees living in Turkey by providing the basic necessities of life; and to undertake activities ancillary and incidental to the attainment of the above charitable purpose.
Project Bolster & Assist
Since January 2016, IRQR conducts regular workshops for refugees in different Turkish cities and facilitates the exchange of local-condition information to strengthen the knowledge shared throughout the underground queer railroad and strengthen the LGBT Iranian activist network worldwide. Through these workshops and direct communication with asylum seekers, IRQR documents testimonials of the persecution conducted by the Iranian/Afghan regime against LGBT persons. These testimonials are used in public awareness campaigns sponsored by IRQR.

Refugee Program
The IRQR helps each refugee with his/her asylum claim by meeting with the refugee, explaining the process for asserting the claim, discussing his/her situation, documenting that situation in support of the claim, helping the refugee to complete the paperwork required to make a claim, and responding to the UNHCR’s questions and comments about the claim, including collecting and submitting follow-up information requested by the UNHCR. The IRQR also assists those refugees whose claims are granted and who are referred to Canada for resettlement with completing the immigration application forms that the refugees must submit to immigration officers at the Canadian Embassy in Turkey.

Since IRQR was registered as a charity in Canada, they are able to provide assistance not only to Iranian LGBT refugees but those from Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and other Middle Eastern countries."
