January/Taehyung 2019

One In An ARMY is proud to announce the January campaign to support Children's Healing Art Project (CHAP) for Taehyung’s birthday! The donation period officially began at 12:00 am KST on December 30th, 2018. Donations will aid CHAP to provide art programs free of charge to children, teens, and families affected by pediatric illness, disability, or special needs. Everything listed in steps 3-5 under our individual giving instructions is optional, but extremely helpful for us to track donation amounts as we have no other way to see how much ARMY has donated (see our FAQ for a full explanation). Our hashtag for the month is #HealWithTaehyung and the hashtag for the bonus mission is #TigersForTae. The minimum donation amount $1.00 USD.

If you can't afford the minimum donation amount, pair up with an ARMY friend from your country to meet the $3.00 USD minimum donation amount - then follow steps 1-5 of the individual donation plan!

Through A Fanbase

If you can’t find an ARMY friend to donate with, you can try reaching out to a local fanbase to see if they’re willing to run a collection pool for your region/country.

Please be advised that One In An ARMY has no way to monitor donations collected through fanbases; donors do so at their own risk. We recommend you only reach out to a base you trust and ask them to provide you with a screenshot that verifies they donated to the campaign. Please contact us if you made a donation through a fanbase and you have reason to believe the money was not donated to the non-profit.

If you don’t want to take the risk of donating to a third-party, save your money for a future campaign and check out the ways you can get involved without donating by visiting our Bonus Missions page or by playing our mini-game (coming soon)!

About Purple Community Fund

The Purple Community Fund aims to help poverty stricken families and communities transform their own lives with skills training, education, health and nutrition programmes. They want their beneficiaries to earn a sustainable living to support their familiesm and they carry out their mission by enabling parents to perfect new skills through a variety of programmes for both men and women whilst supporting their children in education.

Life for P-C-F beneficiaries in the Philippines is difficult after the closure of the dump site which reduced employment opportunities. P-C-F livelihood workshops, after training, enable parents to earn a reliable wage making a beautiful range of recycled products. The main livelihood programme is in Tondo. There are currently 57 artisans in the P-C-F programme and their children are enrolled in the Community Education Mentoring Programme.

Why Purple Community Fund for Jin?

Kim Seokjin comes from a family of successful entrepreneurs. He aspired to become a businessman himself before joining Big Hit Entertainment and he made his dream a reality by opening Ossu Seiromushi – a restaurant specializing in steamed Japanese dishes –with his brother, Kim Seokjung. Given Jin's passion for business, we felt that an organization that empowered entrepreneurs was the way to go for his birthday campaign!

  • $40 can provide a family with an emergency food parcel

  • $115 USD can feed a child for 6 months

  • $130 USD can enable a father or mother to learn a new skill

About KKOOM (꿈)

Korean Kids and Orphanage Outreach Mission (“KKOOM”, pronounced “koom”) is a 501(c)(3) charity that provides access to education for Korean orphans, such as funding for preschool and college scholarships. Relying on individual financial contributions, KKOOM also sponsors and hosts holiday celebrations, summer activities and other events throughout the year which help the children have fun and learn life skills. Additionally, KKOOM gives gifts of clothing, household items, and other tangible support to meet the basic needs at Korean orphanages on a case-by-case basis.

Why KKOOM (꿈) for Jungkook?

Jungkook often says his hyungs shaped him into the man that he is today. South Korea, much like other family-oriented societies, places great importance on family and who your family is. In South Korea, having a family is your ticket to having a successful life. So what about children in child welfare centers?

There are various reasons why children are placed in child welfare centers. Some are placed there for reasons that we are familiar with; inability to provide for them, abandonment, abuse, or neglect. However, there are those in South Korea that place their children in child welfare centers, but do not relinquish their parental rights. Some parents do this because they are poor and hope that by placing their children in centers it will give them a better chance for an education and survival, but promise to take them home once they’re more financially stable. Some are single mothers that fear ostracization from society and give up their children in hopes of a better chance at marriage in the future. And in a few instances, some parents remarry and decide to abandon their kids in centers without relinquishing the parental rights.

Even without the issue of parental rights, adoption is a tricky system. Foreigners that want to adopt korean children are faced with a long and arduous journey. Koreans themselves don’t often adopt children outside of their bloodline. All that these children have are each other and an uncertain future.

This is why One In An ARMY is dedicating the month of August to KKOOM, an organization that is dedicated to providing not only some living expenses but also access to education like preschool and college scholarships and fun events like holiday celebrations, and summer activities to teach the kids fun and useful life skills.

We hope that ARMYs will participate enthusiastically in donating and letter-writing to the kids in Gumi and Gimcheon. We may never be biological family to those kids, but neither were BTS when they first met and now there is no question that those boys are Jungkook’s family.
